Yesterday was Australia Day, and since my husband & his family are Aussies, we're going to an Austrailia Day party tomorrow!  Had I seen this sooner I would have made these cute cupcakes to bring!  Ah, well.  Have a good weekend!

I won't be doing a post tomorrow so I'll say it now... So long 2011!   I hope you all had a good year but hope you have an even better 2012!   I reflected on my 2011 while I flipped through the years facebook photos (convenient right?).  I had a lot of wonderful changes & wonderful times.  If I were to go back in time to last Dec. 31st and told me where I'd be a year later, well I probably wouldn't believe it!  "Oh the places you'll go & the things you'll see!" I would say to me.
None the less, it's onward and upward in my perspective!   Bring it on 2012!  We're waitin' for ya!

It's only 9 degrees out right now.  Perhaps thats why my first customer of the day still hasn't shown up; too cold to venture out!   Right now I'm thinking about cozy cabins, fireplaces, and warm cuddle time inside while is so so cold outside!  I'm thinking rustic chalet, hot chocolate, and wool socks.  I'm thinking sweaters and cider.

Isn't it amazing how the Christmas stuff started coming out the day after Halloween?  Thanksgiving seems like a less important holiday, probably because other than food, it doesn't "stimulate the economy" the way the December holidays do.  I'm one of those people who tries very hard not to do Christmas until after Thanksgiving, purely on principle, only to find myself in a rush to get everything done in the 3 and half weeks before the 25th!

Well I caved in yesterday.  I started thinking about how I wanted to string evergreen garland across the front porch railings, and then I looked up the price for real greens (never fake, again this is on principle for me) on a local nursery's website and EEK! the price of garland is staggering!   But wouldn't you know it, the next thing I see is someone on craigslist giving away beautiful Colorado Blue Spruce branches, freshly cut to anyone who wants some free Christmas greens.  It was fate I thought, so I hopped in the car!  On the way home I thought I'd stop at a favorite little church thrift shop.  I was not looking for more Christmas items, but I couldn't pass up what I found!  Someone had cleaned out gramma's attic and donated a big box of vintage Christmas goodies, which I'm a real sucker for you know!   My total spent was about $7.30 with tax.  I posted a picture of my loot on facebook and a friend who used to deal in antiques to boutiques said she could get $60 for that in a snap and complimented me on my good eye!

Happy Friday everyone!  With the exception of a bit of sewing work I need to get done, I'll be spending my day in my kitchen baking up a storm for tomorrow big party!  There's going to be about 40 people joining us in our backyard for Brewfest so I've been staying pretty organized by typing out a detailed menu including timing the, er, "courses" and by writing up a food preparations schedule.  I've planned a plethora of food that can be prepared in advance for the most part so I can enjoy the party with my guests.  Martha Stewart would be so proud of me!   Last night I baked these cookies!  They are so cake-y and yummy, like the top of a muffin.  And super easy too!   Click the link below for the recipe!

Happy Friday indeed!  I could not be happier that it's Friday because my sweety gets home from his week long camping trip today!  So how did I like a week of the single life?  Well with the exception of a couple high points, not that much.  I'll be happy to have my partner in crime back!  Have a great weekend everyone.

Ah!  Nothing puts a spring in your step like wearing a new dress!  Especially when it's a cute vintage dress you picked up for a buck fiddy!   I seriously love the thrift stores up here!   This was my best attempt at photographing it, kinda rough but you get the idea.  But yeah it's a cool dress because it looks kinda 1950's but it's actually from the early 80's so it's made out of jersey and is way comfortable.  Once I removed the shoulder pads that is!  Anyways, I'm off to a friends cabin this evening!  Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Happy Friday all!  I have a lot going on this weekend and the distinct feeling that June is going to fly by super fast!  Our weekends are already filling up with activities.  For instance on Sunday we are helping host a Cake-off party! So I'm off for one more attempt to find some vintage cake stands at thrift stores (& then I'm giving up!).  There are maybe 10 people competing with cakes and I don't know how many guests.  I have no idea how it is going to go honestly but it should be some tasty fun!

Hey guys, I'm sorry for the serious lack of posts this week!  It's been pretty nuts around here!  Business is BUSY and I've been meeting with roofers to deal with the leaking roof all week.  Ah, the joys of being a caretaker!   Anyways, I promise that next week I'll have more awesome posts for you, including pictures from the Guthrey par-tay.  In the mean time have a very happy weekend.  Maybe even sleep in a little!

Happy Friday everyone!  I'm excited because tomorrow my kickstarter project hits it's deadline and we have funded 177% of it's goal!  Yay!  I want to give a big huge thank you to everyone who's donated and who's helped spread the word!  I'm also excited because I did a test listing of one of the new items for Laura Whitney Couture in my etsy shop and it sold within a week to a local Minneapolis woman!  I'll take it as a good sign!  Well I've got to go now, lots of work to do!!!!  Hope you all have a great spring weekend!

Congratulations William & Kate!  I wasn't awake early enough to catch the wedding live but without a doubt they made an absolutely beautiful bride & groom!  Kate looked like elegant and serene in her beautiful gown (by Alexander McQueen) & her lily of the valley bouquet of course!  Cheers to the happy couple!
