Winter Wedding Inspiration Board

Mini Photo Shoot!

Yesterday my dear friend Holly, aka Princess Pretty, came over for a quick 2 hour photo session to model the new winter wedding capelet and to re-shoot a couple gowns I wasn't entirely happy with.  It was a lot of fun but BRRR! was it ever cold up in the attic!  But Holly said the capelet kept her quite toasty!

Monday Monday

So now that we've switched our clocks you can't deny... WINTER IS COMING!

I seem to dread the snow more and more each year.  My darling husband and I finished winterizing the house this past weekend and now I am back to focusing on the brides winterizing their weddings!  Soon, in addition to our bridal boleros, we'll be introducing some loverly capes & coverlets to the Etsy shop!  No need to shiver on the alter or don an ugly puffy jacket to step into the limo. Wouldn't you rather slip into a sumptuous cape or fluffy coverlet as you slip off to your reception?  I thought so!  So hold tight, new pieces will be in our Etsy shop by the end of the week and ready to order for your winter wedding!

This bride would look much happier against the winter landscape if she wasn't freezing!

And my crazy busy week continues...

Another new gown is finished!  Woot!  I'm not going to show you a picture but I will tell you that it's not white or ivory.  It's blush!  I just love how pale blush pink is becoming more popular for brides.  It makes sense since it compliments just about any skin tone!  What else is there? ...Oh, one thing that is sort of sad is that I am having to discontinue my current incarnation of my Buttercream Bridal Bolero.  The dotted fabric that I bought was discontinued which is such a bummer because it was just adorable!  I searched high and low for it's replacement and couldn't find another dotted brocade.  BUT the style is just too darn cute to get rid of so I'm keeping the design alive in silk dupioni which is great because it will be available in many colors!   I have enough of the original fabric to make just one more bolero so if you want it, snatch it up!  Okay I better get back to the sewing studio now!  Ta ta!

We have a new bridal accessory for sale in out Etsy shop!  Introducing the Athena Ballerina Bridal Sash!  This beautiful couture sash also doubles as a headband!  Actually in my mind it started out as a headband and then I thought, "Man this would look gorgeous belted around a gown!"  So there you go!  It's available in gold or silver and has intricate hand-sewn beading across the laurel leaves.  The shimmery sheer organza sash ties in the back for a perfect fit, however you decide to wear it!  To see more images & order, click here.

Cate Parr is an artist/illustrator living in the Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles, California.  She does the most amazing watercolor fashion paintings, which are for sale in her etsy shop!  The prints are truly works of art, worthy of any wall in your home or office.  I'm particularly impressed with how she's mastered the use of negative space in her paintings!  You can buy prints of Cate's work here.

It's been a while since I've featured an Etsy artist, too long really, so when I stumbled upon CicaleTdesigns I had to share what is some of the most beautiful jewelry design I've seen for a long time!  I'm just drooling over several of her pieces, mainly the pretty pretty earrings!   And I'm normally not even an earrings kinda gal.  I think what really refreshing about her work is that it's very wearable.  So often right now your see big elaborate necklace designs with heaps of ribbons, chunky chains and vintage baubles that, while very beautiful, just aren't practical for most outings.  This jewelry is beautiful enough to wear to a formal event but practical enough to wear while walking the dog.  You can shop CicaleTdesigns by clicking here.

Keep an eye on this one!  Stephanie Briones of Briones and Co. is one talented young woman!  Her paper goods are not only lovely to look at but extremely useful too.  Products include note pads, meal planners, recipe cards, and more.  She also sells the cutest little twig pencil sets, which I might have to buy.  What strikes me the most is how perfectly she styled & photographed her work, so light and bright, showing that small simple things can add real beauty to your everyday life.  You can shop Stephanie's great designs here.

 

Man Jewelry

Regardless of personal style most women have something in mind when they think of their engagement & wedding ring.  The same cannot be said for men.  Most men that I've talked to don't really have an opinion when it comes to choosing their wedding band.  Probably because, lets face it, the poor guys just don't have that many options.  Men grow up viewing jewelry as a chick thing so anything other a plain band can seem way to feminine for them.  My husband chose to go with a titanium band.  It made sense to him.  It was indestructible & inexpensive (which is good because he lost his first band in the lake and we're on #2 now).   I recently stumbled upon an etsy seller who makes wedding bands that are both beautiful & masculine.  Minter & Richter Designs makes stunning titanium rings, many featuring wood inlays, all made to order and fully customizable.
