Happy Friday!

Happy Friday everyone!  It's another dreary day in Minneapolis but I'm not gonna let that get me down!   I'm going to hit some thrift stores, including the Target basement of the downtown Salvi.  Do you guys know about that?  The basement of the downtown salvation army is where Target corporate sends their discarded sample garments (like from their design division).  It's the stuff that didn't make the cut to go into stores, I'm guessing because they were deemed to awesome for mainstream America!   If you're in Minneapolis you should check it out.  The only bad thing is there's no dressing room :(

Have a great weekend everyone.  And for no reason whatsoever, here's a picture of a kitten riding a turtle.  Enjoy!

Featured Etsy Artist: CicaleTdesigns

It's been a while since I've featured an Etsy artist, too long really, so when I stumbled upon CicaleTdesigns I had to share what is some of the most beautiful jewelry design I've seen for a long time!  I'm just drooling over several of her pieces, mainly the pretty pretty earrings!   And I'm normally not even an earrings kinda gal.  I think what really refreshing about her work is that it's very wearable.  So often right now your see big elaborate necklace designs with heaps of ribbons, chunky chains and vintage baubles that, while very beautiful, just aren't practical for most outings.  This jewelry is beautiful enough to wear to a formal event but practical enough to wear while walking the dog.  You can shop CicaleTdesigns by clicking here.

Starlett Style

Okay I know I'm a little late in posting this but I wanted to give you a little wedding inspirations from the 2011 Golden Globes awards.  As always there was a plethora of gorgeous gowns on gorgeous women, as well as a few fashion flops (Helena Bonham Carter, right down to her mis-matched shoes!).  But here are a couple of my favorites, which I also think would translate wonderfully to walking down the aisle vs. the red carpet.  One theme I notices right away, and am thrilled about, what how many of these leading ladies wore gowns with sleeves.  That's right, sleeve!   I've felt for a long time that sleeves have had an undeserved reputation for being dowdy and matronly.  Obviously not true as you'll see below.  Other trends, there were several champagne, blush, or otherwise neutral colored dresses, which we already know is becoming a more popular alternative to white and ivory wedding dresses, particularly for 2nd weddings.  Also, despite many fashion experts claiming that (due to the upcoming royal wedding in London) the ball gown shape is returning, there was very little to be seen at the Golden Globes and column and A-line silhouettes were still the dominant styles.

Scarlett was my favorite of the night.
Sandra's gown is so beautiful but those heavy bangs distract from it terribly!
Megan Fox in pretty blush pink
More neutrals...
I love everything about this except the shoulder pads. Too 'Dynasty'!

I think this is the worst dress of the whole event!  Here skin & lipstick is the same color as the dress, it's shapeless, no jewelry even.  This woman just blends into the wall and looks 2 dimensional.  Yuck!  This is Emma Stone by the way.  You know, the chick from Super Bad?  Didn't recognize her?  That's because she used to look like this....
Apparently she thought Lyndsay Lohan's career path was a good one. So Sad!
