I'm taking a break from the blog for a while folks. My heart isn't really in it right now and I want to focus more on some other projects. I'll be back next month, but until then, have a happy February.

Bright Art to Chase Away Winter Blues
It may be a mild winter in MN as far as the temperature goes, but it's still dreary, grey, and the days are still very short! I feel like we need some extra bright and cheery images to help get us through! Enter the amazing neon art installations of Megan Geckler. They are made from flagging tape used on construction sites. Her large scale installations are architectural in nature and meant to be walked through for the full experience.

Happy Friday!
Yesterday was Australia Day, and since my husband & his family are Aussies, we're going to an Austrailia Day party tomorrow! Had I seen this sooner I would have made these cute cupcakes to bring! Ah, well. Have a good weekend!

Rustic Weddings
I love a sleek stylish shindig but nothing compares to the casual beauty of mother nature, so I also love a laid-back rustic wedding held outdoors. Common themes include rough weathered wood, wild flower bouquets, and good ol' home cookin' in lue of expensive catered fare. In general these weddings tend to be very comfortable for guests and sometimes more of a personal expression of the bride & groom. Here are some of my favorite rustic wedding inspiration images! {images via 100 Layer Cake}

Wedding Hair: Braids
My girlfriends and I are all kind of on a hair changing kick. We've all been changing our color! But it got me thinking about trends in bridal hair styles. We've seen some really dramatic changes in styles (thankfully!) getting away from the mass of fake-y hairspray encrusted curls piled high atop the head! Brides these days are going for a more natural look, a look that is tradition re-interpreted, a look that celebrates the beauty of simplicity. Of course I'm talking about braids. Braids really went out of fashion in the late '90's and into the early 2000's but they are back and the new and interesting formations are just lovely. Whether wrapped up as a crown or descending loosely down the back, braids are the romantic new hairstyle for your wedding day or for any day!
