A very personal post...

This is probably the last post I will do this week.  My dear sweet kitty Groucho was hit by a car Tuesday night and found next to the curb by a good Samaritan passing by.   The man watched over him for 15 minutes until he could get close enough to him to get my phone number off his tag and call me.  I feared the worst but was so thankful he was still alive and in one piece.  At the all-night animal hospital we were relieved and astonished that he seemed to have no broken bones.  He does however have one of his main fangs broken and a terrible open wound under his chin, not to mention that he likely has bruising over his body that is causing him much pain.  We brought him home along with some prescriptions to help with his pain and healing.  A visit to our regular vet this morning gave a pretty positive prognosis; no internal bleeding & carefully nursed he should heal fine.

Considering the situation it could have been much worse but I'm still feeling very little relief.  Groucho won't eat or drink anything and is so weak he can only walk a step or two before collapsing.  He hides his face from canned cat food he would have ran to a few days ago.  Despite his protest we are force feeding him watered down cat food in a plastic syringe.  Holding his limp little body as my husband feeds him is heart breaking when just hours ago he was strong & playful as a kitten.  I don't usually write blog posts of such a personal nature but I am a big believer in the power of positive energy and I hope that whoever reads this will send out positive healing thoughts to my baby Groucho.

Black and White Stripe Wedding

Check out this very cool wedding over at {BlackWhiteYellow}.  There is something very timeless about and black and white striped ribbon.  Maybe the most famous example is from the movie My Fair Lady.  To see the full post click here.

Autumn Tablescapes

This time of year makes me want so much to get out in nature, partly because it's so beautiful out but also because I know that soon Minnesota will turn into a horrible frozen wasteland.   I'm going to be throwing a small-ish shindig out at my family's cabin in the woods soon and even though it's going to be a super casual day it still gets me thinking about menu planning, and how everything is going to look when spread out over the big wooden table by the fire pit.  So with that in mind, here are some of dreamy autumn tablescapes!

Happy Friday!

I am really looking forward to a relaxing weekend.  We're headed to a wedding this evening and then on Sunday we are going to a couple apple orchards in the country!  The hubby wants to get freshly pressed apple cider to brew cider style beers.  Yummers!  I am excited because one of the orchards we're going to has a pick your own pumpkin patch!  I know, I'm like a little kid but I love October and this sort of thing is what makes to cooler weather worth it!   Have a great weekend everyone!

Casual Chic Wedding

Just have to point you to a wonderful wedding over at Snippet & Ink!  Reading the couples perspective about their wedding reminded me so much of our own feelings 4 years ago. Basically of how they tossed around the idea of eloping but ultimately realized that weddings are in many ways more about your families coming together and connecting than about you two.  This couple kept it casual & relaxed yet very chic to reflect their personal style.  Here's a sampling of pics from their wedding.  You can see more here.

Balloons!

Normally when I think of balloons at an event I think of cheesy prom decorations, retirement parties,.... not something you'd like to include in your wedding in other words.  But these beauties beg to differ.  Instead of the common shiny egg-shaped balloons you can buy at the supermarket, go for a big, perfectly round, matte balloon in a color to coordinate with your wedding.  Even just a single round balloon can be the perfect photo prop!   Scout around locally first but you can also order some here.
